Today the second theatrical trailer was released for the new live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie. The trailer gives fans a first glimpse at all four turtles and they all have their own style but are completely computer generated unlike the original live action films from the 90s.
The new trailer is just a recut of the first one with not much more revealed other than the turtles that were missing. In any event I am eager to see more but skeptical to say the least. Enjoy!
Today Starwars.com officially released the names of the cast for the new Star Wars Episode VII film set to be release December 18th 2015. Among them are rising stars and some notable actors from television as well as film.
The new leading men include Adam Driver who is set to be the villain in the film from HBO’s hit series “Girls” and Actor John Boyega, a new comer to the big screen and the star of Star Wars Episode VII. Additional members of the cast include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow. With original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker returning for a follow up appearance.
The casting of relatively unknown stars is a tradition started with the first three films in the series, a tactic that has created big names in the industry and preserved the authenticity of the films by making the story the central focus. J.J. Abrams the director of the upcoming film was the first choice for many geeks, second behind Lucas himself because of his ability to bring cult classic back to life without selling out entirely to the hollywood machine.
In today’s announce Abrams said “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
The film which will take place 30 years after “Return of the Jedi” is intended to captivate a new generation of fans while pleasing those who have keep the franchise alive. It will be the first of a new trilogy of films announce by Disney 17 months ago after acquiring Lucas Films for $4.05 billion dollars just months after George Lucas retired.
Star Wars Episode VII is being produced by the new president of Lucasfilms, the veteran producer Kathleen Kennedy who is notable for her work on “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “The Sixth Sense” as well as J.J. Abrams and his producing partner Bryan Burk. George Lucas will also be a part of the new project but acting as a creative consultant for the films only.
Principal photography begins this May in London as fans count down the days until the its release which is just in time for Christmas 2015.
ThinkGeek.com has recently debuted an R2D2 shaped stack of measuring cups/spoons for the Star Wars Fan who loves to bake! I already have cookie cutters and mixing bowls but this new set is going to give my kitchen more galactic appeal!
This set of R2-D2 Measuring Cups disassembles into 4 measuring cups plus 4 measuring spoons and reassembles in a snap. Each has its measurement written inside so you can’t forget what they are and handles on the back that don’t distract from R2’s aesthetic.
The set costs $19.99 US and is BPA free but not microwave or dishwasher safe so be warned. I have already added it to my list of things I am going to buy now and my little padawans are going to love it, but probably not as much as me.
Check out the set in action:
The internet has been buzzing about the digital artist Sakimichan a 20-something Canadian who has perfected the art of gender bending popular roles in animation films. Recently Sakimichan’s visually stunning digital artwork was featured by MoviePilot.com the internet claimed it a sight to behold. You can check out his portfolio and more of his work on Deviantart here. Below are some of my favorite pieces from his portfolio the Sakimichan Pocahontas is amazing, enjoy!

I almost died laughing when I saw this video from Rob Rants on YouTube. I admit that if I wasn’t a mother I would be a cat lady for sure. Even our kitty Vader seemed to be intrigued.
Finally we get a glimpse at the new TMNT live action movie and I have to say it sort of excited me. Despite the fact that Megan Fox evokes nothing of April O’Neal the animation looks awesome and the movie actually looks like it will be filled with a decent story plot and lots of actions coupled with the campy humor of our beloved turtles.
Michael Bay is known for his love of explosions and over the top effects and has never disappointed in that arena. I will be going to see this film when it comes out despite Megan Fox’s mis-casting. Nothing will replace the old films of my youth but this new series looks like something I could enjoy!
Taxidermy can be beautiful at time, but its mostly pretty damn creepy. For me the thought of having an animal’s stuffed head in my living room looking down on me as I breast feed is a bit much. This was a sentiment I carried until I saw this DIY Wampa Head Taxidermy from Our Nerd Home!
This fairly easy project is a nice compromise because the Wampa head is obviously fake, but the geek appeal is through the roof. Now I just have to convince my husband to let me put it in his man cave. Wish me luck!
